Day 1: Arrival in Auckland
Welcome to 'The City of Sails,' Auckland. As you touch down, collect your rental car and head to your relaxing hotel. Rest up for the exciting journey ahead.
Day 2: Auckland - Bay of Islands
Today, we set off north, crossing Auckland's iconic Harbour Bridge and tracing the scenic Hibiscus Coast. Our adventure leads us through Whangarei, Northland's major city, culminating in the breathtaking Bay of Islands, where we'll settle into our hotel.
Day 3: Bay of Islands
A day to savour the Bay of Islands' charm at your leisure. You can opt for a Cape Reinga & 90 Mile Beach day tour or explore Kerikeri. The choice is yours as you soak in the beauty of this serene region.
Day 4: Bay of Islands - Auckland
Another day to explore the Bay of Islands at your own pace. Alternatively, venture out to discover more of this captivating area. Return to Auckland for a relaxing evening.
Day 5: Auckland - Rotorua
Heading south, we journey to Pukekohe, known for its vibrant market gardens. Continuing through Hamilton and the lush Waikato region, we arrive at Rotorua, the 'Thermal City.' Check into your hotel for a well-deserved rest.
Day 6: Rotorua - Tongariro National Park
Our route takes us to Taupo, home to New Zealand's largest lake and the majestic Huka Falls. After exploring Taupo, we wind around the edges of Lake Taupo, entering the Tongariro National Park. An overnight stay amidst this natural wonder awaits.
Day 7: Tongariro National Park
Today is all about leisure. You can explore the Tongariro National Park, home to world-famous walking tracks, including the renowned Tongariro Crossing. Take your time to absorb the beauty of the surroundings.
Day 8: Tongariro National Park - Wellington
This morning, we are going to make our way to the capital city, Wellington. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Relax and soak in the city's vibrant atmosphere.
Day 9: Wellington - Nelson
Bid farewell to your rental car this morning in Wellington as we embark on the Interislander Ferry to Picton. As you sail through the Marlborough Sounds, be captivated by the stunning scenery. Upon arrival in Picton, grab your rental car and continue your journey through the Queen Charlotte Drive to Nelson.
Day 10: Nelson
Today is a day to explore Nelson and the nearby Abel Tasman National Park. Discover the local gems and enjoy the natural beauty of this picturesque region.
Day 11: Nelson - Greymouth
Today, our road winds through the picturesque Nelson lakes district, leading to the rugged West Coast. While en route to Greymouth, consider visiting the pancake rocks at Punakaiki. Check in for a relaxing evening.
Day 12: Greymouth - Glacier Region
Heading south along the West Coast, we find ourselves in the glacier region. Your stay includes a visit to the soothing Glacier Hot Pools. It's a day to unwind in this enchanting setting.
Day 13: Glacier Region
Today is another relaxed day on the agenda. You have the option to discover the awe-inspiring glacier region, perhaps with activities like a scenic flight or a guided walk on one of the glaciers. It's your call!
Day 14: Glacier Region - Queenstown
This morning, our journey will take us to Queenstown, through breathtaking mountain ranges, native forests, and serene lakes. Haast Pass, the gateway to World Heritage Westland National Park, beckons. You'll follow the shores of Lakes Hawea and Wanaka until you reach Queenstown.
Day 15: Queenstown
Today, you have a free day to explore and partake in a host of optional attractions. Queenstown offers bungy jumping, jetboating, white-water rafting, gondola rides, and more thrilling experiences.
Day 16: Queenstown - Te Anau
We will proceed to Te Anau for a short journey. Enjoy a day of leisure in Te Anau, with optional activities like a visit to the world-famous Milford Sound or an excursion to the Te Anau glowworm caves.
Day 17: Te Anau - Dunedin
Drive through the historical Central Otago to the Scottish-influenced city of Dunedin. The day is yours to relish, and you might consider an optional tour to Otago Peninsula to visit Larnach Castle or witness resident penguin and albatross colonies.
