The building itself was originally called Baynes Bungalow owned by British District Judge, Mr. Baynes. One of the first few houses to be built in the region, Baynes Bungalow was sold to Father Louis Cyr in 1860, when it was renovated and reopened as La Providence. Designed in the original La Providence building, this restaurant has been converted to
a decadent restaurant, set to put out a lavish buffet including everything from international favourites to traditional and local Indian cuisine. The restaurant also features a live kitchen counter to provide fresh, piping hot food straight off the stove, to your plate.
La Providence will be open for breakfast and dinner with a buffet spread. Our gourmet chefs will be sure to take care of cravings for any kind of cuisine, leaving you satiated and satisfied, every time.

At 1700 square feet, this large hall can be arranged for any of your business’ needs, right from theatre style seating (for 200 people) and round table arrangements (94 people) to boardroom (50 people), reception type seating (188 people) or any other kind of arrangements, depending on the needs of the event.

The nights in this stunning hill station can get bitingly cold, dropping down
to as low as 2ºC (35.6ºF) during the winters. To warm up these typical Kodai nights, our lobby areas are fitted with beautiful, romantic fireplaces to keep you toasty and comfortable over a cup of home-brewed coffee.
In addition, on clear nights, bonfires are lit in the deck areas of our two restaurants, perfect for evenings of music, drinks and conversation!
The Tamara Kodai is home to the only temperature-controlled pool in Kodaikanal.
The pool is 40 feet in length and maintained at the perfect temperature, with a kids area of a lower depth on one end. Set at the highest vantage point on the property, the poolside includes a small pool-side bar, perfect for an after-swim evening of relaxation!
