The Gold Souk in Deira was started in the early 1900s with a handful of local Indian and Iranian jewellers setting up shop. But it didn’t take up until the 1970s when the oil boom attracted people worldwide. Today, it is one of the world’s largest gold markets, with over 350 gold dealers selling gold, silver, platinum, and other jewellery. You can buy readymade jewellery, gold coins, and even gold bars at the souk.
Open from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturdays to Thursdays. On Fridays, the souk opens at 4:00 p.m. and closes at 9:30 p.m.
The Gold and Diamond Park was developed by Emaar Properties in 2011. It is situated on Sheik Zayed Road and is part of the Jebel Ali Free Zone. The Gold and Diamond Park is the best place to shop for gold jewellery, precious stones like diamonds, rubies, etc., and high-end personal accessories. The best thing about shopping here is that there are no income or corporate taxes. You can even bargain for the price, asking for discounts on marked prices.
On Fridays, the market is open from 4:00 p.m. and from 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Saturday to Thursday.
If you are travelling internationally with a layover in Dubai, consider shopping at Terminals 1 and 3 of the Dubai International Airport. While they may have fewer options in terms of designs and prices, they are not a bad option. Besides, shops are open 24×7.

Meena Bazaar in Dubai is part of Old Dubai and is modelled on the ancient Meena Bazaar in Old Delhi. The bazaar got its name from the signboard on the first store on Cosmo Lane in 1973. It is located in the Al Fahidi District. Besides ready-made traditional garments, shoes, and spices, you can shop for gold jewellery on the street. Some famous jewellers to set up shop at Meena Bazaar include – Malabar Golds and Diamonds and JJ and Sons.
Shops in Meena Bazaar from Fridays to Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Fridays, the store is open from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
