Day 3: Sainte Marie to Cilaos Cirque - A Journey into Time and Nature's Beauty

Today, you will start on a captivating journey to the southern part of the island, Cilaos Cirque. This remote destination is steeped in history and natural splendour. In 1845, a rugged path was carved out, initially accessible only to pedestrians. It wasn't until 1896 that thermal baths were established, and a proper road for vehicles was constructed. Before that, the trek to Cilaos was made on sedan chairs – quite an adventure!

Cilaos village, nestled at an elevation of 1200 metres, is a sight to behold. The ascent along the famous "400 bends road" treats you to awe-inspiring vistas of numerous hamlets dotting the landscape. As you reach the village, you'll feel like you've stepped into a bygone era, with charming old houses surrounded by blooming gardens that resemble an artist's palette. In the hot season, the village bursts with colours, thanks to jacarandas in shades of mauve, dahlias, azaleas, roses, hydrangeas, and mimosas.

Cilaos is renowned for several things - its hydrotherapy facilities, exquisite embroidery, unique local wine (the only one produced in Reunion), and the world-famous lentils. The village beckons you to explore its treasures through various walks and hikes. For the most breathtaking view of the cirque, take a forest path to "La Roche Merveilleuse" or opt for a car or bus ride. From this vantage point, you can feast your eyes on the entire cirque, the village below, intricate paths, and lush forests.

Don't miss the chance to discover the thermal baths, which include both ancient vestiges dating back to the 19th century, accessible via a picturesque road, and modern facilities for wellness and rejuvenation. After enjoying your lunch at your leisure, you can visit the "Embroidery House" and learn about the intricate "les Jours de Cilaos" (an optional suggestion). On your way back in the late afternoon, we'll make a stop at "the whirlpool" at L’Etang-Salé, a natural wonder. We'll return to your hotel around 5:30 pm, and you'll spend the night in the serene embrace of Cilaos Cirque. (Breakfast and Dinner included)

Day 4: Explore Cilaos Cirque at Your Own Pace

Today is a day for you to unwind and enjoy some leisure time. We've got a range of activities available for you upon request when you arrive, including thrilling options like a helicopter ride, diving adventures, transparent kayaking, and relaxing paddle trips. You'll spend the night at our lovely hotel in Cilaos Cirque, where you can relish delicious meals throughout the day.

Day 5: Volcano Adventure

Prepare for an exciting day as we make our way to the coast, with its serene shores and imposing cliffs leading to St. Peter. From there, we begin our ascent towards the vast Plains of Cafres and the Great Ferme.

The highlight of the day is the Commerson crater, a captivating geological formation filled with intriguing rocks, resembling question marks. This natural amphitheatre is a dream come true for geologists, with its intriguing discoveries. As we continue our journey, the landscape will change dramatically, offering stunning vistas. Once the day's exploration is complete, we'll spend the night back at our comfortable hotel in Cilaos Cirque. Enjoy a hearty breakfast and delightful dinner.

Day 6: Farewell to Cilaos Cirque

It's time to bid farewell to the enchanting Cilaos Cirque. Today, you'll be transferred to the airport for your journey back home or onward to your next destination. Enjoy your breakfast before departing.
