Day 1 : Arrive Athens
On arrival at the Athens International Airport you will be met and transferred to the hotel in Athens. Check into the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Athens.
Day 2 : Athens – Athens city tour & Acropolis museum
Today after breakfast proceed for Athens city tour. It will gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop). Continue and pass by the Prime Minister's residence (ex. Royal Palace) guarded by the Euzones in their colourful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma). On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally "the harmony between material and spirit", the monument that "puts order in the mind", the Parthenon. Continue and visit the place where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: The new Acropolis museum. Overnight at the hotel in Athens. (B)
Day 3 : Athens - Heraklion
Today after breakfast transfer to the Athens airport for your flight to Heraklion. Arrival in Heraklion and transfer to the hotel. Check into the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Heraklion. (B)
Day 4 : Heraklion
Today the day is at leisure in Heraklion. Optional Tour : To Knossos Palace! A visit at the Palace of Knossos will offer you the opportunity to discover the first advanced European civilization and to see the oldest throne in Europe, a prehistoric theatre, water-management systems, sophisticated ventilation technologies, huge storerooms, reconstructed buildings, frescoes, storage jars and sacred symbols. The Palace of Knossos is the most important archaeological site on the island. It is the oldest palace in Europe and one of the four Minoan Palaces. It operated as the administrative and religious center of Minoan Crete (Bronze Age). The legendary king of Knossos was Minos, son of Zeus and Europa. The palace is the famous labyrinth of Greek Mythology. (Operational from June to September)
Day 5 : Depart Heraklion
This morning you will be transferred to Heraklion International Airport to board your flight back home or to your next destination. (B)
