Itinerary

You cannot visit Australia and not visit Ayers Rock, Australia’s iconic sandstone monolith. Explore the Outbacks with our Alice Springs tour package itinerary customised for you.

Day 1: Arrival in Alice Springs

Ensure your arrival at Alice Springs Airport no later than 11:45 AM, as a Scheduled International Carrier (SIC) will facilitate your transfer to the city hotel, where you will promptly check-in. This afternoon, embark on a captivating Half-Day SIC A Town Like Alice Tour, scheduled to depart at 1:30 PM (AATK A3).

During this excursion, you will explore the notable landmarks of 'The Alice', with a special focus on The School of the Air. Here, you will gain insight into the unique educational methods employed to instruct children who are geographically isolated, relying on radio communication. With some luck, you may even have the chance to listen to and observe live lessons in progress through the airwaves.

The tour continues with a visit to the historic Telegraph Station, which commemorates the original site of the first European settlement in Alice Springs. Subsequently, you will journey to the Royal Flying Doctors Service, where you will gain a deeper understanding of how medical assistance is extended to those residing in the remote 'outback'.

Another highlight of the day will be a visit to the Alice Springs Reptile Centre, offering you the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Central Australia's semi-arid desert reptiles, including the impressive Perentie Lizard and the enigmatic Thorny Devil. The tour's grand finale takes place atop Anzac Hill, affording you a sweeping panoramic view of Alice Springs township and the majestic MacDonnell Ranges. Following this delightful day of exploration, you will retreat to your comfortable accommodation at the hotel in Alice Springs for a restful overnight stay.

Day 2: Alice Springs

Commence your morning by embarking on the Full Day Shared in-conveyance (SIC) West MacDonald Ranges Tour (AATK A8 - please be prepared for some moderate walking across uneven terrain during this excursion). Our first destination is Angkerle, more commonly recognized as Standley Chasm. A leisurely stroll beckons along the stony watercourse, where a spring-fed pool teems with a splendid assortment of indigenous wildlife and avian species. Upon completing your walk, relish a respite for morning tea.

You will then proceed to Ellery Creek Big Hole, an awe-inspiring waterway that has carved its path through the rugged expanse of the ranges. Continuing your expedition, you will visit the Ochre Pits, an intriguing geological formation displaying natural ochres embedded within the cliff faces. These ochres have served as a vital source of materials for indigenous peoples for countless millennia.

Your journey takes you to Ormiston Gorge, where the imposing topography is accompanied by a virtually perpetual waterhole, drawing an assorted variety of aquatic birds and fish. At Glen Helen Gorge, you will take part in a delightful Ploughman's Lunch, savouring a repast set amidst the captivating natural surroundings.

The culminating stop on your itinerary is Simpson Gap, one of the most renowned destinations within the ranges. Traverse through the gap to uncover the hidden waterhole, while maintaining a vigilant watch for the elusive black-footed rock wallabies concealed amid the rocky crevices. Following your day of exploration, you will retire to your accommodation in Alice Springs for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Alice Springs to Ayers Rock

On the third day of your journey, it is time to bid adieu to Alice Springs. Begin your day with an early morning check-out and be ready to embark on the Half Day SIC Transfer to Ayers Rock Resort, all the while enjoying the scenic enroute Touring through the MacDonald and James Ranges. Your amiable Driver Guide will regale you with informative commentary about the landscape. You'll also make a delightful stop at a camel farm, where the opportunity to enjoy a brief camel ride awaits (at your own expense). Subsequently, there will be a chance to purchase a light lunch at Mount Ebenezer. The breathtaking Atila, also known as Mount Conner, will captivate your senses before you reach Ayers Rock Resort.

Upon arrival at Ayers Rock Resort, it will be time for check-in. In the later afternoon, you can partake in the Half Day SIC Uluru Sunset Tour (AATK # Y11 - Note that the 3-Day National Park Fee is already included in your package). Later in the evening, there will be SIC Transfers for the Field of Light Self-Guided Tour, so please ensure you have your National Park Ticket handy. Please note that infants above one year will be charged as children for this tour. You'll be spending the night at the Resort in Ayers Rock.

Day 4: Departure from Ayers Rock

As the fourth day dawns, it is time to check-out from your accommodation. Early in the morning, you'll be part of the Half Day SIC Uluru Sunrise Tour. It's worth mentioning that breakfast is not included today, given the early morning departure for the tour. In the afternoon, you'll be transferred to Ayers Rock Airport courtesy of SIC Transfers to catch your onward flight.
