Listen to interesting stories about how two mediaeval cities came together to form the Zagreb we know today, the capital of Croatia. After an exciting day of exploration, spend the night at your hotel in Zagreb.

Day 2: Explore Plitvice Lakes National Park

Start your day with a delicious breakfast before checking out. Head to the Zagreb bus terminal, where you will catch a coach to Plitvice, one of Croatia's stunning national parks. Plitvice Lakes is like a precious gem in Croatia's natural beauty collection, boasting sixteen interconnected lakes and 92 breathtaking waterfalls.

Take some free time to immerse yourself in the park's wonders, featuring diverse plant and animal life. The main attractions include the Upper Lakes, a group of 12 lakes separated by travertine barriers. Kozjak Lake, the largest and deepest lake in the park, is must-see. It is unique because nature fused two smaller lakes into one, creating the only navigable lake in Plitvice. Do not miss Stephanie's Island on Kozjak Lake, named after an Austrian princess who visited in 1888.

Explore the Lower Lakes, known for idyllic scenes of small waterfalls, turquoise water, and lush greenery. Nearby, you will find the Šupljara underground cave. The highlight of the Lower Lakes is the Great Waterfall, standing at an impressive 78 metres, making it the tallest waterfall in Croatia. After an exciting day of exploration, check into your hotel in Plitvice for a well-deserved overnight stay.
