Day 3: Dublin to Killarney

After a breakfast buffet, head to the Dublin station to take a train to Killarney, a picturesque town in County Kerry. Killarney is home to Ireland’s tallest mountain, Carrauntoohil, and is famous for its beautiful and extensive forests.

The journey takes around 3 hours and offers excellent views of the countryside. After check-in, you’ll take a cart ride from the hotel to Killarney National Park. With more than 26,000 acres of ancient forests, rivers, and lakes, the National Park is undoubtedly the city’s most prized attraction.

Some of the activities at Killarney National Park include horse riding, cycling, canoeing and kayaking, fishing, swimming, bird watching, walking—hiking, and boating. You can also sign up for a guided tour of the forests or take a Killarney walking trail.

Day 4: Killarney – Ring of Kerry

Your breakfast options include a medley of continental cuisines and a hearty full Irish breakfast of bacon, sausages, baked beans, eggs, mushrooms, and grilled tomatoes. While you may be tempted to call it a day and retire after such a heavy meal, there’s lots to see and do today.

Today, your tour will start with the Ring of Kerry Excursion. You will leave from Killarney to Killorglin via the banks of the river Laune. This is an important town on the Ring of Kerry tourist route, famous for its natural beauty and the Puck Fair. Lough Caragh is between Killorglin and Glenbeigh and is one of the many freshwater lakes in Kerry where you can fish for salmons, sea trout, and freshwater herrings. It’s also an excellent place for kayaking, canoeing, and boat riding.

The next stop on the Ring of Kerry route is Cahersiveen, a town at the foot of the Beentee Mountain, overlooking the Valentina Harbour. You can visit the many beautiful churches, The Old Barracks, and the famous Ballycarberry Castle.

The next stop is Waterville, a seafront village along the Coomakista Pass and Derrynane. Popular attractions include the Waterville Golf Links, the Charlie Chaplain statue, and the Skellig Gift Store.

Sneem, a beautiful village in County Kerry, is the next stop. It is famous for its brightly coloured houses, which attract thousands of visitors from across the world.

From there, you will head to Moll’s Gap, a mountain pass and a 57km long circuit between Killarney and Kenmare. The last stop on this route is the scenic Ladies View, Killarney’s most panoramic viewpoint. It is named after Queen Victoria’s Ladies in Waiting, who were part of her entourage when she visited the place in 1861.

Spend the night in Killarney.
