Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrive Bucharest

Arrival at the international airport of Bucharest. Transfer to your hotel to freshen up and accommodation. (B)

Day 2 : Bucharest – Sibiu, 280 km aprox. 5 hrs

After a rich breakfast and a short panoramic tour of Bucharest: Revolution Square, the main Orthodox Church in Romania, the Romanian Athenaeum, the former Royal Palace, People’s Palace (exterior), University Square, Arch of Triumph, entrance in Open Air Village Museum, head for the land of Transylvania. On the way you’ll stop on Oltului Valley to enjoy the visit of Cozia Monastery dated from the XIV century. Continue the journey towards Sibiu – one of the most beautiful medieval towns of Romania, selected as European Capital of Culture in 2007. Overnight at the hotel in Sibiu. (B)

Day 3 : Sibiu – Sighisoara, 90 km aprox. 1h30’

Today walk into the city centre in order to see the Large and Small Squares, the Clock Tower and the Liar’ Bridge. We will visit the Evangelical church, an impressive gothic monument, built in 1520. After a well done walking in to one of the most beautiful city of Romania you’ll try a nice traditional lunch in a nearby village. A place where you can visit the Museum of Glass Painted Icons and see how the villagers are living. In the afternoon transfer to Sighisoara, located in the heart of Transylvania, this is the hometown of Vlad the Impaler and is considered to be one of the most beautiful medieval citadels in Europe. Though it is still inhabited, you will be amazed by the charm and mystery that surround it. Overnight at the hotel in Sighisoara. (B)

Day 4 : Sighisoara – Bucovina area, 350 km, aprox. 6 hrs

In the morning we are enjoying a walking thru the most amazing World Heritage site in Romania: Sighisoara citadel. Visit the Clock Tower Museum, Medieval Weapons Museum and Torture Room; climb the stairs to see Church on the hill and enjoy the narrow streets of the city. In the afternoon continue to Bucovina area via Borgo Pass. Passing thru the land mentioned by Bram Stocker in his novel, on the borders of three regions: Transylvania, Moldavia, and Bucovina, stop for a coffee at Dracula’s castle hotel. Late in the night arriving in Gura Humorului for accommodation. Overnight at the hotel in Gura Humorului. (B)

Day 5 : Bucovina Area, 200 km, aprox. 3hrs

Today you’ll taste a little bit from the Romanian inwardness. You’ll visit the World Heritage outside painted monasteries, unique in the world: Sucevita – the only one built in the XIV century with high and thick walls like a real fortress, Voronet – the Sistine Chapel of the Orient, founded by the king Stephan the Great in 1487 to celebrate a big victory over the Ottoman Empire, Moldovita – founded by Petru Rares in 1537 with a stunning representation depicts the Tree of Jesse, representing Christ’s genealogy, a wide-spread iconographical theme in Europe during the Middle Ages. During your incursion thru history and religion you can stop in Marginea to enjoy the local workshops of black ceramics. Overnight at the hotel in Gura Humorului. (B)

Day 6 : Bucovina Area – Brasov, 400 km, aprox. 6h30’

Today depart to Brasov via Bicaz Gorgeous, passing near Red Lake. Arrive in Brasov, formerly known as Kronstadt, medieval town that used to be the capital of Transylvania. Take a walk in the Council Square and admire the impressive Black Church. Overnight at the hotel in Brasov. (B)

Day 7 : Brasov – Bucuresti, 200 km, aprox. 3 hrs

Today the journey begin with visit of Bran Castle the fortress built in the 14 th century, worldwide known as Dracula’s Castle, due to the American movie directors and continue with Peles Castle, former summer residence of the royal family of Romania, built in the 19 th century by the first King of Romania – Carol the 1 st . Nowadays this castle hosts an impressive collection of weapons and art objects. In the afternoon arrive in Bucharest and transfer to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Bucharest. (B)

Day 8 : Depart Bucharest

Departure directly to the airport in Bucharest. End of our services. (B)
