Sri Lanka is an exotic island country with endless beaches, abundant nature, wildlife, spice and tea plantations, and luxury accommodations. To explore this beautiful island, check out the Sri Lanka trip package itinerary.

Day 1: Arrive in Colombo

Upon arrival at the Colombo International Airport, our tour manager will greet you and help you transfer to the hotel. You will travel by car to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage in Kegalle. The journey takes around 3 hours and is the perfect way to experience rural Sri Lanka.

The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage was established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Wildlife Department to protect and care for orphaned elephants. The orphanage hosts over 93 elephants, including baby elephants. Tourists can feed and bathe the animals and take pictures with them.

Spend the night at a Dambulla luxury resort.

Day 2: Dambulla – Sigiriya Rock Fortress – Dambulla

After breakfast, you will head out to visit the Dambulla cave temples. The Golden Rock Temple in Dambulla is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest, well-preserved cave temples in Sri Lanka.

You will then visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The place is famous for its palace ruins, built on a 200-metre rock. An extensive network of gardens, water reservoirs, and other attractions surrounds the fortress. Besides exploring the fortress, you will visit the Sigiriya Museum and the Pidurangala Rock, famous for its reclining Buddha statue. Don’t miss the Minneriya National Park, renowned for the herds of elephants that visit the park for food and water.

Spend the night at Dambulla.

Day 3: Dambulla – Kandy

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and head to Kandy, Sri Lanka’s last royal capital. Kandy is famous for the Temple of the Tooth, which gets its name from the canine tooth believed to be of Gautama Buddha, which is enshrined here. The temple hosts the annual Esala Perahara, a procession to honour the sacred tooth and pay homage to the old gods of Sri Lanka.

In addition to the Sri Dalada Maligawa Temple, you will visit Kandy Lake, the Ceylon Tea Museum, Sri Lankathilake Rajamaha Viharaya, and the Udawatta Kele Sanctuary.

In the evening, you will be treated to a colourful show, during which you can witness a mind-blowing Sri Lankan cultural extravaganza, including drumbeats and acrobatics.

Spend the night in Kandy.

Day 4: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Today, you will explore places around Kandy, beginning with Nuwara Eliya. This is the highest town in Sri Lanka and is called Little England. It was the favourite retreat of the British officers who loved the cool and clean air. The place is now famous for its colonial buildings, tea plantations, and the spectacular Horton Plains National Park.

You will also visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya. The garden is famous for its tropical trees and plants, including the cannonball fruit tree, the 40 m-high Burma bamboo, and the Javan fig tree. The garden is also known for its extensive collection of orchids.

Other attractions in Nuwara Eliya include the Seetha Amman temple, Horton Plains National Park, and the Nuwara Eliya Central Market.

Spend the night at a luxury hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 5: Nuwara Eliya – Colombo
